The Bloomfield Road Runners Club was created to raise funds for local non-profit organizations. In 2001, they joined hands with the title sponsor, American Bank of New Jersey to revise the very popular Sunset Classic, a major road race of the 80’s and 90’s.
With the generous help of the Township of Bloomfield and its many agencies and departments, the Sunset Classic will be able to distribute valuable funds to the Bloomfield Educational Foundation, the Vocational, Educational and Special Training (V.E.S.T.) Program.
The Vocational, Education and Special Training Program The Vocational, Education and Special Training Program (V.E.S.T.) serves developmentally delayed adolescents and young adults in the Essex County area. Housed in the Bloomfield Middle School, V.E.S.T. works with youngsters aged 15-21 with the goal of providing the means to make the students independent and employable.
Funds raised on behalf of V.E.S.T. are used to procure equipment and services. Computerized manufacturing and assembly machines as well as the most current vocational assessment services are on the V.E.S.T. wish list and the SUNSET CLASSIC proceeds will be put to good use.
The V.E.S.T. Program seeks community support to reach its goals and thanks all SUNSET CLASSIC participants and sponsors for their support.
